Teeterboard Duet | Devised Work | National Centre for Circus Arts

SQFT is a devised teeterboard duet created in collaboration with Alfie Sherwood during our second year at the National Centre for Circus Arts. The piece explores themes of urbanisation through rhythm, structure, and physical negotiation, using the teeterboard not just as an apparatus but as a shared space shaped by tension and interdependence.

We combined physical storytelling with detailed design choices, transforming the teeterboard and stage using tape, textures, and visual references to urban life. As the choreography unfolded, our costumes shifted from crisp corporate wear to something more unstructured, reflecting a journey from restriction to release.

This project pushed me to blend circus technique with scenographic awareness and collaborative composition. SQFT marked a key step in my development as a circus artist on Teeterboard, deepening my understanding of partnership, atmosphere, and the visual language of performance.
